Also, I was going to purchase tickets ahead of time. However the only way I saw to do this was by a link “Request Tour Tickets.” It looked like these needed to be shipped and there was a $20 charge for this. Is there no way to have these sent electronically?

      Howdy Brandi,
At this time there is no way to get your tickets electronically. :( However getting tickets is a snap and you should have no problem getting them and then getting on the boats. The process is pretty quick. Let us know if you need anything else and have fun!

Howdy Allen, thanks for contacting the River Walk Guide. Yes it is possible to reserve a boat so that you can propose to your girlfriend. The cruise can be reserved directly by contacting Rio San Antonio Cruises staff at 800-417-4139, with catering arranged separately through any of the establishments offering catering. Let us know if you have any more questions, and we hope she says YES!

      Howdy Shaily,
The Riverwalk is a public park and is open to the public free of charge. As for free parking the city has a fantastic program called Downtown Tuesdays where you can park for free after 5 p.m. until 2 a.m on every Tuesday of the week. Hope this helps and enjoy your stay in San Antonio.

Myself and my daughter are going to be visiting July 4th. Do you have recomendation’s on Parking for the LoneStar Cafe Cafe Ole Area? And How can I reserve a RiverBoat Cruise with my 16 yr old. to get the most of the visit… Any sugesstions? Thanks

            April 10, 2013 at 7:10 pm

            Howdy Kimmie,
The best place to park close to the Lone Star Cafe would be at the parking lot located at:

            303 East Commerce Street
            San Antonio, TX 78205
            (210) 212-4011

Since it is the 4th of July weekend the parking lot might be full so your next best bet would be the parking located on the corner of Commerce St. and Presa with the big sign that reads “Centro Info.” We don’t have the address for it but its close to 422 East Commerce Street, San Antonio, Texas. Let us know if you have any more questions.

    1. Does the river tour go thru the locks to the Pearl?
    2. Is the fare the same for main part of the River including going thru the lock to the Pearl and returning along the entire river course (round trip)?
    3. Can you purchase tickets and board at the Brooklyn Street Bridge?
    4. Will river boat tours including going thru the lock be available on March 14th or 18th, if so, will any special hours apply?
    Thank you.

      Howdy Paul,
The answer to questions 1 & 2 is currently, only our Rio Taxi service goes into the new extension of the River Walk. Though there is no formal tour, the tour guide can answer questions about the River Walk and art located in this beautiful new section along the ride.

Can you purchase tickets and board at the Brooklyn Street Bridge?

My 3 girlfriends and I are planning to pay San Antonio a visit this coming May. If we wanted to do a tour on the river boat, do we need to make reservations in advance? What is the procedure?

      Howdy Verna,
There is no need for advanced registration if you and your group are only going to do the tours. However if you want a private charter boat for a dinner on the Riverwalk we highly recommend that you contact the establishment of your choice ahead of time to make reservations.

Absolutely! I went ahead and called Rio San Antonio just to confirm. I spoke to Olivia, who was very awesome and helpful, and she said that the tours are a go for the entire River. Don’t forget to check out our events calendar while you are in town http://riverwalkguide.com/events/. And without a doubt be sure to check out the “Victory or Death” Travis letter on display at the Alamo.. Hope you have the best weekend ever!

I work at a high school in Killeen, TX and on May 3rd we are going to be in San Antonio with 50 of my students. Can we fit all 55 of us at the same time on one of your boats? And how much ii is? Did we need to make reservations? You can call me at school 254-336-0666. Thanks.

Hello Maria – While seeing 55 people on a River Barge would be awesome to see, there just isn’t enough room on one boat for 55 people. Group rates are available from Rio San Antonio Cruises. They offer a 10% discount on ticket purchases over 25. This rate is not available at their ticket booth. When requesting tickets through their online Ticket Form, you’ll receive information about group rate discounts if the number of tickets you request qualifies for a group rate. From Rio San Antonio Cruises
OPERATION NOTE: January 2nd-3rd, city crews will be putting a coffer damn in front of the Republic of Texas restaurant. During this time, we will still be open, but will “double back” from one point, thus extending your tour a few more minutes. ALSO, thru January 6th, the Museum Reach will be drained for maintenance so no Rio Taxi Combo tickets will be sold.

Hello Audrey, the narrated tours leave every 15 to 20 minutes daily from various locations along the River Walk. The tours run daily from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM. If you don’t feel like waiting you can always charter a river boat. Dinner and cocktail cruises or a chartered tour are phenomenal ways to enjoy the River Walk.
